The Best AA Batteries for A Digital Camera

Photo: mikebaird

Digital cameras eat through batteries at an alarming rate. As my wife can attest, theres nothing more aggravating than when you are about to capture a memorable family picture only to discover theres not enough juice to snap the pic. We seem to go though this ritual at every family event, and its always my fault. So a recent Consumer Reports article on the best AA batteries for digital cameras caught my attention.

The study tested the performance of a variety of batteries. The tests covered non-rechargeable lithium, nickel oxhydroxide, and alkaline batteries. Each battery was put to the test to see how many photos it would take when used in a digital camera.

To take it a step further, the analysis took the cost of the battery and the number of photos they took to determine a cost per photo. It turns out there is something to that old saying you get what you pay for. The more expensive batteries gave the best performance.

Consumer Credit Report

Consumer credit report is actually credit histories in respect of individual who has made loans at banks, applied for credit cards, bought cars, acquired mortgages etc. and the agencies for lending have reported one’s indebtedness and history of payment to the three agencies of credit reporting namely, TansUnion, Experian and Equifax. A consumer credit report is necessary for more or one of those agencies by anybody who is contemplating lending someone money or offering credit to one.

Just reward?

BIS have just launched new guidance on how the National Minimum Wage (NMW) applies to Internships – you can see this on the Business Link Website. HMRC, who enforce the NMW regulations, are keen that BUFDG should make its members aware of this guidance. The driver here is that internship opportunities should be open to all and not just those who are in the fortunate position of still being able to live off the bank of mum and dad!

BIS have also asked us to remind our members who outsource services to ensure that your supplier due diligence exercise covers off NMW. Having polled a very small number of institutions I understand that this is standard practice, and in some cases HEIs also sign up to the London Living Wage campaign. If you have any questions or comments on this guidance, we would be happy to feed this back to HMRC so please let me know.

Happy Birthday Studenomics! Can You Believe it Has Been 3 Years?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO STUDENOMICS. It is now officially three years of Studenomics.

I started Studenomics with the hope of helping as many young adults as possible. I didn’t care about the money. I didn’t think that I would make anything from blogging. Now I’m at a crossroads. Do I attempt to go full-time with Studenomics or do I find a real job & manage this site on the side?

Three years ago, I didn’t know anything about text links, Adsense, affiliate marketing, or creating your own products. Now I have experience in all three.

Giving thanks…

I was looking through old emails. I really need to thank the following people. These are people that helped me back in 2008 before I started and when I was first just getting started.

Jeremy of Gen X Finance. Jeremy actually took the time to give me detailed responses to my blogging questions a month before I even bought a domain. Looking back at the emails I can’t believe how extensive his responses were to my standard questions.

When I first discovered personal finance blogs in early-2008 I was hooked. I was worki
